Art is Ageless

Because NewCourtland knows that life should be varied, fun and sometimes unpredictable, it has developed the Comfort & Joy program, which is coordinated through the recreational departments in each facility. This arts and entertainment initiative brings children and young professionals into the facilities to work and play with the residents. It also brings an array of performance artists.

Photography Project
Through the Art is Ageless initiative, the seniors in the NewCourtland facilities are given exciting opportunities to work with professional artists, be creative, and maintain a voice out in the larger community. Their accomplishments can be seen through a Photography Project, done with students from The Art Institute, Mosaic Murals, displayed in one facility that tell parts of the stories of their lives, and other projects such as Talking Quilts, Memory Boxes, and the Sacred Village.

This past year, seniors form one facility worked with grade school students and professional musicians and animators to produce "Joy and Wisdom: Sharing EldersŐ Stories", which aired on HBO Family and brought national recognition to NewCourtland programs
