Exhibition Call for Entries from Women Artists: Is It Fine Art? Does It Matter?
Deadline April 04, 2011 : The Pen and Brush, Inc. in New York City is accepting entries from women artists working an any media for Is It Fine Art? Does It Matter? Through the appraisal expertise of jurors Kenneth Hutter and Jennifer Elhardt, Is It Fine Art? Does It Matter will explore artistic merit vs. market value in works created outside the traditional canon of "Fine Art.” The exhibition aims to capture works that challenge tradition, and/or combine non-traditional, and/or commercial media through form, content, or purpose. Works created to be utilized in a functional, commercial, or decorative capacity will be considered. Works in support of another form of expression such as book illustrations, elements of set/project design, furniture, and architectural design will also be considered. To come forth as a branch or subdivision; develop or diverge from] Is it abstract? [n. The limited parts of a larger or more complex unit or system] And how can you express that visually? Exhibition PPAC Juried Photo Exhibition - A Love Supreme
Deadline May 10, 2011 : The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC) is excited to announce A Love Supreme, 2nd Annual Contemporary Photography Competition and Exhibition. The juror will be Peter Barberie, Curator of Photographs, Philadelphia Museum of Art. This year's title refers to the dramatic transformation in John Coltrane's creative process and sound in his legendary recording. Moving away from jazz standards to a spiritual and instinctual way of making music, Coltrane forever changed his medium. In this spirit, today's photographers are creating new visual languages, pushing the medium in unprecedented and unpredictable ways, forever changing how we define photography. Winning entries will be exhibited at PPAC from June 9 - August 27, 2011 and will be included in the exhibition catalog. First, second, and third prize winners will receive $500, $200, and $100 in cash prizes plus a $50 gift certificate for PPAC's digital services. The competition is open to all subject matter and photographic processes. Work must have been created in the last three years. The entry fee is $40 for a maximum of 5 images. Enhanced lab members of PPAC do not need to send entry fee. Entry fees are non refundable. All entries must be delivered or postmarked by Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Deadline April 04, 2011 : InLiquid is now accepting applications to participate in our signature summer event, Art for the Cash Poor, taking place at Crane Arts on June 11 and 12, 2011. Now in its 12 year, this ever-popular indoor/outdoor art sale and party keeps getting better and better. Eligibility: Open to all artists who design and produce their own work. All items for sale must be priced at $199 or below. Participants may sign-up for either one or two days. here are both indoor and outdoor spaces available. Other RFQ - SEPTA Art in Transit Program Public Art Commission
Deadline April 23, 2011 : SEPTA Art in Transit Program invites artists living or working in the Greater Philadelphia area to submit qualifications for a new permanent public art commission for the Cheltenham-Ogontz Bus Loop Improvements Project. Artists are asked to envision permanent artwork that will be seen by tens of thousands of pedestrians, shoppers, residents, motorists and SEPTA riders commuting through or passing by the Cheltenham-Ogontz Bus Loop each day. THe call is for artwork to be commissioned for a 200 feet long by 20 feet wide stretch of landscaped green space, parallel to Ogontz Avenue. The budget is $145,000. Deadline May 01, 2011 : NEXUS seeks artists working in ANY discipline, including but not limited to painting, works on paper, sculpture, installation, performance genres, and digital media. NEXUS values artist members who are diverse, dedicated to their art and willing to take risks, and who enjoy being part of a community of artists. NEXUS members are given the opportunity to exhibit their work once every two years in solo exhibitions, participate in group exhibitions, curate exhibitions, and to be part of a co-op operated entirely by its members. Applications are reviewed twice a year by the existing body of NEXUS members. Applicants cannot be presently enrolled in school and must live within a 50-mile radius of Philadelphia.
