Tomorrow Night!! Friday, June 1st there will be an opening for the Bridgette Mayer Gallery show "Young & Fun" from 5 - 8:30 pm. The exhibition includes work by InLiquid artists Deborah Caiola, Rebecca Rutstein ,and Corey J. Willis. Bridgette Mayer Gallery - 709 Walnut Street, 1st Floor. The show runs through August 4th.

Tonight! Thursday March 31st and Tomorrow Friday June 1st - Streaming Cinema 2.0 - the first and only US festival of web films, multimedia and interactive shorts, showcasing the best web cinema from around the world. Panel Discussion: Thursday May 31st from

Also Tonight Thursday, May 31, "Bring Your Own Slides" will be offered as a feature of the opening reception for Levy Gallery's new show. The Space 1026 opening tomorrow night - Friday June 1st, from 6:30 to Midnight - has some very special guests. Ron English will be signing his new book "Popaganda", hot off the softskull presses. They will also be celebrating the cd release of "Hyperjinx Tricycle" the new record by Daniel Johnston, Ron English and Jack Medicine. A possible very rare live performance by the band is scheduled. Tonight!! Thursday, May 31st from 6 pm to 9 pm - Streaming Cinema Roundtable Discussion: "Redefining Online Entertainment." Exploring the interaction between the technology of the Internet and cinematic storytelling, and the content that combination produces. Featuring a panel of web filmmakers and Internet/broadband executives (Marty Sabraw, Doug Mow, Michael S. Adams, Lance Weiler, and Tara Veneruso.) Levy Gallery's exhibition is titled "Brave/Smart: Philadelphia Selections 4." It is the fourth in a series which invites nationally recognized curators, writers, and critics to organize an exhibition of works by Philadelphia area artists. the show runs through July 27th.

From 6:30 - Midnight, Space 1026 celebrates the opening of its "Destroy All Monsters" exhibition, featuring artwork by Daniel Johnston & Ron English. The party is also celebrating the cd release of "Hyperjinx Tricycle" the new record by Daniel Johnston, Ron English and Jack Medicine (a possible very rare live performance by the band is scheduled.) There will be a reception at the Pentimenti Gallery (133 N. Third St.) for the opening of its "Summer Invitational Group Exhibition," which runs through August 31st.


Larry Becker Contemporary Art (43 North Second Street) opens its show "Three Small Focus Exhibitions: John Zurier, Bill Walton, Robin Miller," running through June 30th.


The Snyderman/ Works Gallery ( 303 Cherry St) opens new shows as well. At Snyderman - Harry Anderson's solo exhibit of mixed media light sculptures. At Works:Clay - Sequoia Miller; Basket - Jackie Abrams; Quilts - Duncan Slade & Gail Fraas and Jewelry - Marcia Macdonald. All shows run through June 30th. The gallery will also be showing at the S.O.F.A. Art Expo, from
May 31-June 3 at the 7th Regiment Armory - Park Avenue & 67th Street - New York City.

Later in the week....

On June 6th, The Gross McCleaf Gallery (127 S. Sixteenth Street) opens a solo exhibition by artist Susan Van Campen
which runs through June 29th.

NOTICE

There are studio spaces available at the 314 Brown
Street building in Northern Liberties - which now houses about 20 working artists- as well as the 509 Vine Street building in Old City - now housing 12 working artists. Both spaces have been involved in the art community for the past 12 years and have an open house every year for the artists to connect with the public directly at the Brown Street location. A studio will be available the 1st of August at 314 Brown Street. For information contact Vibeke Lichten at 215 627 3000.
