About the Exhibition

First Friday reception: May 7, 5 - 9 pm

The idea for this series of work was born in the narrow streets of Prague, in the rolling hills of Hungary and in the darkened cells of Terezin. Who could not know what was happening? Who could not see what was going on? What illusions did people accept to mask the Holocaust that was happening outside their windows? Where did the Jewish people go when they disappeared? Behind the Scene/Seen, 21 photomontages printed at Silicon Fine Art, deals with the issues embedded in this landscape: reality/illusion, past/present, and history/future generations.

As Linda explains, "I have seen the splendor of Eastern Europe's most remarkable cities. Budapest, with its beautiful location on both sides of the Danube River, sparkles with zest and vitality and has been restored to the "Paris of Eastern Europe." Vienna, former capital of the Hapsburg Dynasty, is resplendent in its imperial glory and musical traditions. Prague, the "Golden City" of Europe, charms all who are lucky enough to visit her. But to paraphrase German Jewish essayist Kurt Tuchlosky, "A country is not just what it [looks like or] does, it is also what it tolerates." There is more behind the scene that needs to be seen. I invite you to come see my art and share the experience.

The book based on this series will also be available.

About the Gallery

Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints is a digital printmaking studio founded upon the collaborative printmaking model established by a handful of fine arts workshops and presses in the United States. While the tools at Silicon are digital, the philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that it is the chemistry between the artist and the printmaker that results in the finest work. With five IRIS and one Epson printer the studio can provide printmaking services on a wide variety of materials and up to 44 inches wide by unlimited length.

Silicon Gallery was one of the first galleries dedicated to showing work created on or influenced by the computer. The current Hot Off the Press series of shows focus on artists who have recently produced a body of work printed at Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints.
