With the physical intensity of summer settling in, Seraphin Gallery presents Let's Go Enjoy Nature! A wide range of works from around the country — including paintings, drawings, and works on paper — invoke nature and the natural as subject. Together, the variety of materials and disciplines reveal the personal and contingent aspects of any approach to the natural world. The images negotiate their proximity to nature and the natural by situating themselves in relation to art history, architecture, systems of space and perspective, and photographic conventions. Such positioning further explores the natural by mimicking the positioning we all do to any form of nature this season.

Let's Go Enjoy Nature! features work by Marina Borker (Philadelphia), Timothy Callaghan (Cleveland), Austin Lee (Philadelphia), Emmy Mikelson (New York), Tom Vance (Philadelphia), and Eric Zimmerman (Austin). The show is curated by Robert Goodman — a painter represented by Seraphin Gallery whose solo exhibition Gray Day was on display in the fall(November 2009 — and Jesse Smith — an editor for The Smart Set who writes about mediated conceptions of nature.
