About the Exhibition
Opening reception: April 11, 6 - 8 pm
Seraphin Gallery announces Reality of Light, a new exhibition of paintings and drawings by Christopher Gallego. In his work, Gallego turns the mundane into the ethereal. He is a painter whose process allows the spectator to witness a moment suspended in time. A mere egg is an object not often deemed worthy of contemplation, yet Gallego endows it with visual significance.
Gallego’s attention for detail is remarkable. His process is very involved: from his preliminary sketches to priming his canvases, the time Gallego invests brings him closer to his work. Because of this dedication, Gallego’s work stands out amongst the multitude of representational painters.
Christopher Gallego is a professor at Woodstock School of Art in New York. His work is included in public and private collections, such as the Arkansas Arts Center, and New Britain Museum of American Art. In 2002, Gallego was a recipient of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Painting Fellowship. In 2005, Christopher Gallego was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant.
