Margaret Murphy, Cameo
Pentimenti Gallery will present a solo show of a new series
of mixed media works on paper by Margaret Murphy. The highly
embellished works contain figurines within landscapes reflecting
Murphy’s experiences with consumer culture. Through
her excessive use of kitsch, decoration and color she further
critiques material culture and its ability to represent or
misrepresent views of gender, class and history.
SUPERIMPOSE!
Simultaneously with Margaret Murphy’s solo exhibition,
Pentimenti Gallery will present SUPERIMPOSE!, abstract
works by David Ambrose, Cecilia Biagini and Richard Roth.
These artists will exhibit a variety of abstract works, both
two and three dimensional, which deal with the function of
and process of using mark, trace or line and its superimposing
possibilities.
