About the Exhibition
Hodgepodge features more than 100 works spanning
the 30 year career of Philadelphia painter and musician Tim
Bowen. The show begins in 1976 with Bowen's initial use of
female nudes and guitar players as a motif, continues through
the Brueghel inspired figure compositions of the early 80s
and follows with the intricate 3-dimensional shadowbox series,
glass and fabric pieces of the 90s and concludes with the
large scale multiple-panel politically charged post-911 paintings.
Many of the works have never before been shown publicly. Despite
his ever-changing diverse subject matter, use of materials,
and stylistic approaches, the artist's populist sensibilities
always manage to delight and provoke the viewer. The exhibition
will serve as a benefit for Falling Cow Gallery, offering
something for everyone's taste at reasonably affordable prices.
