Opening reception First Friday, June 5, 6 - 10 pm
This exhibition presents nine emerging artists from various cities who have joined to create a body of collectively constructed jewelry and objects, inspired by the tradition of the exquisite corpse. Artists Sarah Abramson, Kate Bauman, Nikky Bergman, Kit Burke-Smith, Maureen Duffy, Colleen Heineman, Margaret Semrau, Jessica Stephens, and Kristi Sword have created a show that is absurd and playful in both its method and form.
Their work is full of curiosity and untraditional methods, but attempts to address traditional formalities by both its references and materials. The show's title echoes Newton's first law of motion, which states that an object continues in its established state or motion indefinitely, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
About The Artists
The April "Salon des Filles" is a fantastic show of talented ladies! Included in this exhibition is Marie Ulmer. This 91yr old artist has lived in East Kensington her entire life and just can't stop making art. Bambi is proud to present a small collection of her works, as it is a precurser to her retrospective Bambi Gallery and Proximity are curating, with the help of U Arts, later this year. |
