About the Exhibition

This exhibition contrasts two very different ways of seeing
nature's beauty. Sublime Nature features the intimate
floral photographs of Mark Fields and the vibrant backcountry
photography of Georg Purvis III. In AxD’s latest artist-pairing
we find two photographers who seek to freely express their
love of natural form without imposing artistic trickery. Georg
Purvis’ photographs, many taken during excursions through
the Adirondacks, dazzle with their tapestries of luscious
color. The richness of detail and evanescent light which Mark
Fields captures in his black and white Flower prints
bring their own life to freshly cut blooms.
About the Gallery AxD is a contemporary visual arts gallery dedicated
to showcasing original works of painters, illustrators, photographers,
sculptors, and multimedia performers who seek to be "of
our time." Proprietor Edward A. Barnhart also owns Always
by Design Architects and Designers, located directly behind
the gallery.
