ArtJaz Gallery was established
in 1999 in the historic district of Old City Philadelphia to cultivate
the works of emerging and career artists of color. Through exhibitions,
and community collaboration, the gallery endeavors to create a
forum in which artists can be heard. The gallery artists are regionally,
nationally, and internationally affiliated.
ArJaz's mission is to embrace, expose and sell the art of emerging
and career artists of color. The gallery's goal is to create a
broader audience that will engage in collecting fine art, while
increasing knowledge and understanding of contemporary fine art.
The name "ArtJaz" denotes two of the truest forms of
freedom. Owners, Pamela Brown & Beverly Dawson realized that
art is music and music is art. Both forms transcend barriers of
race, creed and gender. Art is freedom of expression and Jazz
is the true American form of improvisation. It is indeed ArtJaz
Gallery’s intention to bring into the public eye artists
that embrace freedom, challenge boundaries and provoke feeling
and thought in their artwork.
ArtJaz Gallery is also available for receptions, seminars, fundraisers,
etc. Please contact the gallery about availability. Consult services
offered for corporate and home art needs. |
