Opening reception: Friday, April 11, 5 - 9 pm
Talking Pictures is a body of work that has evolved over the past three decades that documents the societal burden place on the poor by corporate-centered governmental policies and the upward social mobility of a privileged few. Without sugar coating lifestyle realities, Sneed holds victims, perpetrators and enablers accountable for decisions that have jeopardized the possibility of peace for future generations of people of all colors.
Created in a postmodern style, Talking Pictures assembles relics, slum artifacts, spoken word, written word, film, and impressionist paintings into meaningful social commentary that will open dialogue between people of all classes.
William Caldwell Sneed is a seasoned artist specializing in multi media art forms that capture the human spirit of the American experience from the eyes of an African American. Influenced by historic and artistic expressions from around the world including Haiti, Africa, Cuba, China, and South America, Mr. Sneed incorporates all of the senses in his works—stimulating the viewer’s reaction through touch, sight, hearing, and emotion.
