Videozoom an international exhibition featuring over 60 contemporary artists, will present a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge video art at the Crane Arts Building in Philadelphia. As a collaborative initiative of InLiquid (Philadelphia, PA), Crane Arts LLC (Philadelphia, PA), and Gallery Sala 1 (Rome, Italy), Videozoom will bring video work by renowned international artists to Philadelphia, many of these works enjoying their premiere screening in Philadelphia.
Starting in 2001, Gallery Sala 1 (Rome, Italy) has created a series of Videozoom projects providing a snapshot look at contemporary video art practice in diverse locales throughout the world. Each edition of Videozoom is curated by a professional in the country represented, and features video works by seven to fifteen artists. Videozoom editions produced thus far include: Videozoom China, Videozoom Iran, Videozoom Israel, Videozoom Morocco, Videozoom Poland, Videozoom San Marino, and Videozoom Spain. Featured artists include: Mania Akbari (IR), Azorro Group (PL), Anna Baumgart (PL), Effi & Amir (IL/ES), Mounir Fatmi (MA), Cao Fei (CN), Cristina Lucas (ES), Doron Solomons (UK/IL), Xu Zhen (CN), Yang Fudong (CN), Yang Zhenzhong (CN), and Artur Zmijewski (PL).
In November 2009, InLiquid and Crane Arts will present an exhibition featuring these seven Videozoom editions in the building’s brand new video projection area.
