In conjunction with DesignPhiladelphia, InLiquid presents Showroom, an exhibition featuring original works of art alongside prototypes, one-of-a-kind, hand-made, and production design pieces by local artists and designers. Included in the exhibition are original art works by Jason Urban and Jackie Tileston and design pieces by Alyse Bernstein, Candy Depew, Float, Talia Greene, Hot Soup, Michael Iannone, Leslie Mutchler, and Marisha Simons.
With a growing interest in merchandising among artists, and a number of independent designers creating handmade and small production runs, the boundaries between art and design have become less defined. This exhibition considers the role that function, process, and production play in the intersection between art and design.
Taking inspiration from a variety of sources from nature to popular culture, the selected works include cast floor lamps, handmade one-of-a-kind carpets, sinks, custom furniture, digital wallpaper, silk screened fabrics, original and limited edition artwork, and other accessories for the home.
