Follow Art to the Source!
Welcome to the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours™ (POST™)! During the seventh annual city-wide event, 236 professional visual artists in 20 Philadelphia neighborhoods will open their studios to the public for display and sale of their artwork. Two juried exhibitions of original art by POST artists will be on display at The National Constitution Center and at The Center for Emerging Visual Artists™. In practically every neighborhood of the city, we’ll be celebrating the artists who make Philadelphia’s cultural scene one of the liveliest!
The website and the POST Artist Directory, available for free all over the city, is your guide to POST 2006 and to Philadelphia’s arts community year-round. Use the listings and neighborhood maps to plan your tours on the two weekends of POST: October 7th & 8th and October 14th & 15th. Some of these doors open only once each year, so take this opportunity to meet some of Philadelphia’s most talented people and to buy original artwork directly from the source.
On the first weekend of POST, visit artists working west of Broad Street in Center City and West Philly, and in neighborhoods such as Germantown, Mt. Airy, Roxborough and East Falls. On the second weekend of POST, go see artists working east of Broad Street…in Old City and South Philly, and in neighborhoods like Northern Liberties, Kensington, Fishtown, and Port Richmond.
POST is a program of The Center for Emerging Visual Artists, a nonprofit career development organization dedicated to making art careers viable. Philadelphia’s visual artists couldn’t thrive without the support of many local businesses and organizations. As you make your way around the city during the two weekends of POST, please also visit and learn about the organizations and businesses that make events like POST possible, including our sponsors and partners.
Philadelphia Open Studio Tours™ (POST™) is a grassroots effort to celebrate Philadelphia’s visual artists, to promote Philadelphia's vibrant art community and to connect the general public to the artists. The event allows visitors from the region and beyond to meet visual artists in their workspaces, view and purchase artwork, and introduce children and families to art in a welcoming environment.
