InLiquid artist Kathryn Pannepacker has been commissioned to create a woven installation curtain for "Taking Off!," the December 8 gala celebration of the Jeanne Ruddy Dance Performance Garage facade unveiling. This mini-site presents an evolving documentation of the creation of this piece.
The hand woven 'curtain' is two separate panels made to welcome anddazzle those who enter the dance space for the December 8th Gala; each panel is 12’ 5" x 5’ 5". Each panel is woven with an overall silvery blue metallic array of fabrics and foil on a jute warp/bamboo loom construction. The artist created the loom out of pipe and plumbing hardware against the brick wall of the garage studio. Each panel will be sold at the Gala auction with proceeds to be equally divided to support the missions and visions of Jeanne Ruddy Dance, Inliquid.com, and the artist, Kathryn Pannepacker.

About the Jeanne Ruddy Dance Performance Garage

To give voice to its works and sustain the commitment to its artistic mission, Jeanne Ruddy Dance plans to inaugurate a vital, new 13,000 sq. ft. dance center -- the Performance Garage.

Located at 1515 Brandywine Street in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Phildelphia, this expansive, innovative dance arena will provide much needed physical space for weekend performances and world premiers; studios for classes, rehearsals, and workshops; and venues for other dance companies and independent choreographers.

The Performance Garage will also serve to support Jeanne Ruddy Dance's strong community mission, to create a viable youth outreach program for area children and local schools.
