A woven sculptural installation by Kathryn Pannepacker will be installed outside of the Arden Theatre, at 40 N. Second Street. Kathryn Pannepacker will encase and extend the some of the building's exterior elements in a woven armature. A painter and textile artist, Pannepacker has, over the past three years, been installing miniature anonymous woven pieces throughout the Old City area, and this piece will be an expansion of this series. She sees the act of weaving as a means to ponder "what is true, what is false, what is disposable, what is enduring, what is valid." She recently had a one-person exhibition at George Mason University, Arlington, VA, and this summer completed a four-month mural/education project at the James Roades Elementary School in West Philadelphia, funded by the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership, National School & Community Corps, and Creative Artist Network.
