MINEFIELD confronts a wide range of scientific and political influences,
bringing attention to our contemporary urge to control and our propensity
for self-reflection. Located in a cavernous basement, intentionally void
of
cultural references, MINEFIELD frames a shared metaphysical space across
cultural lines. The physical combination of anthracite-dust, egg and
laser-excited protons is elegant and potentially volatile. Associative
thoughts come to mind and overlap, regarding life cycles, energy consumption
and modern warfare. While metaphorically connected to minefields that
violently reshape landscapes and lives, this installation also harbors
our
tenuous movement traversing through as well as being a part of the flux
of
human development.
