A night of art and celebration honoring ICA’s
40 years of contemporary art, Benefit 2004 will begin with a conversation
between former ICA Director Janet Kardon
and artist Laurie Anderson,
presented at the University of Pennsylvania’s Meyerson Hall
at 6pm. (please check ICA website for more details on this free
lecture.)
The festivities will continue at 7pm with light
dinner at ICA, surrounded by exhibitions of the works of
Yoshitomo Nara, Sarah McEneaney, and
Aleksandra Mir. Artists
Polly Apfelbaum and Justine
Kurland will create this year’s
limited editions. Proceeds from the Benefit, ICA’s single
most important fundraiser of the year, support exhibition and educational
programs.
The evening will step into high gear at 10pm
with desserts, coffee and a dance party. Dress is festive and valet
parking will be provided. Amidst all the activity, ICA will also
present a 40-year photographic history of the many exhibitions and
events that have kept the museum at the forefront of contemporary
art for four decades. For additional details regarding this year’s
Benefit, please call Denise Berry at 215-898-4980 or dyberry@pobox.upenn.edu.
