Keiko Miyamori
Imagine Here and There
Imagine Here and There, utilizes the surrounding landscape as a catalyst to explore themes of universality. By exchanging tree rubbings here with tree rubbings from a forest in Ibaraki, Japan, Miyamori is interested in creating a shared experience between the two locations that transcends geographical boundaries. This act is further emphasized by a live simulcast performance by Toshi Makihara in Philadelphia and Chikara Miura in Japan organized by Vincent Romaniello of Romanblog.
Keiko Miyamori, originally from Japan, currently resides in the USA where her grandmother was born. Her background and training is in Japanese traditional painting which makes use of natural materials like washi paper and sumi ink made with mineral pigments. These pigments are continuing source of inspiration, and she uses these to transform everyday objects into works of art.
