The Philadelphia Guild of Hand Weavers, founded in 1952, promotes the history, techniques and artistic vitality of their medium to enhance the public's knowledge and appreciation. Since 1952 the Guild has presented yearly (with the exception of a few years) exhibitions to showcase the work of members. By rewarding exceptional craftsmanship it stimulates both the craft and the craft person. The judges, nationally known professional weavers and fiber artists who are not members of the guild, are invited to make the awards. The general public is then provided with the best we can offer.
