About My Sisters 1996 - 2006

Ellie Brown is in the process of trying to publish a book and needs your help. It is for her project About My Sisters 1996-2006.

Ellie has been photographing her sisters’ passage through childhood, into and out of adolescence for ten years and finds the work to be valid and socially significant on many levels beyond pure documentation. The work chronicles the quest for identity, changes in voice and confidence through adolescence, the strong influence of media and peer groups and an eating disorder.

As you may or may not know, funding for all the arts have been cut in recent years under our current administration and the effects have reached far and wide, even into art publishing. Most publishers require some financial input from the artists to be published. This can range from five to twenty-five thousand dollars or more. Ellie feels her best option is to fundraise so that she may self-publish. The funding will go directly to the publication, design, marketing and distribution of the book.

If you have any questions or want to see a sample of Ellie’s book in progress, please don’t hesitate to ask. Please understand that publishing the book will be a slow process. She appreciates your consideration of these very inexpensively priced prints to help fund this book.

Emily Spreading Gown 2006

This is an 11x14, C-Print, edition of 30 signed and numbered prints with two numbered artist proofs. The minimum price is $40 for artists and $55 for everyone else per print. You of course are welcome to contribute more. The print will be sent via priority mail as soon as I receive a check and your name will be listed in the book under sponsors.

This is an 11x14, C-Print, edition of 20 signed and numbered prints with one artist proof. The minimum price is $45 for artists and $60 for everyone else per print. You of course are welcome to contribute more. The print will be sent via priority mail as soon as I receive a check and your name will be listed in the book under sponsors.
