Ilan Spria, born in 1975, received a degree in Photography and Digital Media from Hadassah College in 2001. His main photographic area of interest is documentary. A recipient of numerous prizes, he has participated in several exhibitions, including one in the Czech Republic. Currently a magazine photographer for various magazines in Israel and abroad, he is preparing for a solo exhibition in Tel Aviv in December 2004. In 2005, his work will be included in an exhibition in Washington, D.C. on the subject of childhood within a war-torn country.

About his work:
This work is part of his photo documentation project of the children in a first grade class in the Bialik School in Tel Aviv. The majority of the student body is made up of children of "foreign workers" that are guaranteed by law an equal education to the majority population of Israel. Ironically, these children, born in Israel to either illegal or legal foreign workers, are not citizens and may be required to leave Israel at any time.
