Digital VD is a one hour non-linear film that brings together 60 Scottish artists (and some invited guests) to create a video that seeks to run with and not against, the potential of influence and appropriation. New digital technologies have made issues of intellectual property and influence a burgeoning area of legal policy and legislation . Ideas have become instantly accessible whilst we struggle to contain what could be a vital new form of creative flow.

Each artist has agreed to allow a randomly programmed screening order, so that their images may end with someone else's sound track thus causing merry mayhem and a new random discovery each time the film plays.

Philosopher James Williams provides a running narrative in the accompanying catalogue and the project has been generously supported by Crane Arts , The Carnegie Trust, Dundee University , Edinburgh College of Art, and The Hungry Dog Press.
