Now in its eighteenth year, the Founder’s Award celebrates Samuel Fleisher’s lifelong goals. It is presented to individuals whose commitment and effort have made a significant contribution to expanding people’s access to the arts, supporting excellence in artistic expression, and enriching Philadelphia's cultural resources.
The 2007 Founder's Award recipient is Anne d'Harnoncourt, The George D. Widener Director and CEO of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is an internationally respected art historian whose thoughtful and passionate leadership has propelled the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the forefront of the art world. Her guidance influences every facet of the Museum's success, from developing world-class collections, exhibitions, publications, and education programs, to the improvement and expansion of the Museum's majestic facilities. Miss d'Harnoncourt is also a devoted friend and advisor to the Fleisher Art Memorial, with a deep personal and professional commitment to upholding Fleisher's mission. Reflecting the spirit of Samuel S. Fleisher's earliest intentions, Miss d'Harnoncourt says, “I am very proud of the Museum's association with Fleisher, a Philadelphia treasure and a wonderful partner in our mutual goal of providing access to the joy of art for all.”
