Artist Statement
My work crawls up my body:  from my legs to my spine, it encompasses my bottom and my top.  It bothers me like a scratch I cannot itch.  My ideas scream, “Help; release me, let me breathe.”

I make because I have to.  I make because I have trouble speaking, because I am afraid of crowds, because I am wary of what I am told to do.  Making is my voice, my alleviation, and my opportunity to speak.

I strive to make artwork that functions like a banana or orange: you have to peel back that layer of obviousness to reach the sweet, juicy inside. By biting into the succulent center, we reward our senses.

Glass, clay, paint, glue, rope, and hair are the materials I use to build my artwork, but they are just building blocks.  I use these elements as a foundation to build my ideas and express myself.  I am just a maker, living in a world of makers, struggling to work every day.
