Artist Statement
I was raised in Ethiopia and have lived in the United States for several years. Then I moved to Europe. After a stay in London, I established my residence in Rome where I now live and practice my art. Every cell of my body is creative. I need to express this creativity. This is why I practice my craft.

My preferred medium is painting with acrylics. I paint with my canvas on the floor because it allows me to work at a 360° degree angle.

Acrylic paint is a versatile tool that allows me to dilute or thicken my concept. I sometimes use multiple canvases, then sow them with cotton, lame’ or silk threads. I also use glass or plastic glitter. This goes well with the vivid, fluorescent colours of my acrylic paint.

Sowing my canvases together, represents the balance I seek between the conflicting forces of my psyche, my striving for an equilibrium in my personal - spiritual life and my desire to continue my journey enriched with the knowledge I have acquired.

I strongly believe that this energy within me is guided by a force beyond my comprehension.
