Artist Bio
John Murphy is an artist and curator. He received his BFA
in Painting from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia,
PA, He currently resides in New Jersey.
His photographs have brought him a number of awards, plus
a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Special Opportunity Stipend.
His work has been included in exhibitions at The Painted Bride
Art Center, Philadelphia, PA; The Philadelphia Art Alliance,
Philadelphia, PA; The Print Center, Philadelphia, PA; The
Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA; and Peng Gallery, Philadelphia,
PA. His solo exhibitions include Nexus Foundation for Today’s
Art, Philadelphia, PA; The Phoenix Gallery, New York, NY,
which was curated by Beth Venn of the Whitney Museum of Art,
New York, NY; The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA
as a select Alumnus.
This current body of work satisfies the artist's indulgence
in fantasy, beauty, artifice and the man made, and plays with
the impossibility of preserving perfect moments. |
