Artist Statement
Meandering through saffron and rosemary scented alleyways crowded with stalls of one man’s treasure another’s trash I lose myself in a web of what could be. Each glistening gold or silver trinket I bobble between my fingers, roll over and over again examining it’s provenance, letting it tell me it’s story before I decide whether or not to create a new chapter in it. Each of the fabrics I choose to work with are limited and most often upholstery fabric or otherwise fabrics not usually used for apparel purposes, for some reason they speak to me. I adorn those who wear my pieces with a sense of our past, present and future all in one. Each piece of jewelry, each garment I create is one of a kind and each has it’s own story, fabric and antiques from various markets around the world or from remote country antique stores where treasures abound.
My clothing line is utilitarian but absurdly detailed. Fit, function and embellishment. I insist that individual style is in the details.
