Artist Statement
Passive botanical forms provide the framework for my discovery and application of new visual experiences. The focusing goal is to create an interactive imagery that confounds the viewer’s perception of color, light and form in relation to their physical reference to the images.

Artist's Methods
Traditional methods of drawing, painting and printmaking are crossed with digital imaging techniques to get at the elusive nature of real and imagined botanical forms.  Appropriating photographic data and accumulating the explorations in “technology” are strategies used to compliment my direct perception of nature. The resulting inventions of unique patterns are created with the aid of a camera and computer.  To add a sense of mystery and discovery to the spruce needles and fern fronds I blend the digital results with the local touch of traditional media to complete the discovery process.
