Artist Statement
In this work, loosely titled Drawing on Philadelphia, I am exploring the Polaroid SX-70 manipulation process. I am drawing on Philadelphia, drawing from my memories, experience and skills as well as drawing with my hands, head and heart. Balancing on the edge of photography and impressionistic painting, I am employing all of my creative skills. I am rediscovering the drawing and printmaking that I have done, the marks I've made and the risks I've taken. I am releasing photographic perfection and embracing the element of chance in drawing.

These are images of some of my favorite places and things in Philadelphia. The visual icons that trigger memories and inspire dreams. The simple graphic pleasures that often fade into the background of daily existence, going unnoticed. The pure color, texture and composition of urban life.

Artist Statement
In this body of work titled The Great Divide, I have attempted to make images that inspire, inform and motivate, images that transcend the expected. I am inspired by the passing of time and the many moods of the natural elements. I seek the hidden drama in the shapes and forms of heaven and earth. I embrace the ordinary and extraordinary that occur everyday. I intend to make more than mere documents of a specific time and place… I aspire to make images that illuminate the narrative, sequence and metaphor of crossing The Continental Divide.
